An evening of storytelling in music presented by Music Theatre Wales, Sinfonia Cymru, and composer Luke Lewis.
Featuring new works by emerging local and Welsh music creators from MTW's New Notes initiative and a brand-new digital opera created by young artists from RCT collaborating on MTW’s Future Directions project.
The evening also features a performance of Luke Lewis’s The Echoes Return Slow. Inspired by Alan Lomax’s 1953 field recordings of miners in Treorchy and the film Women of the Rhondda (1973), this deeply evocative work blends live ensemble performance, archival speech, video and song. Through meticulous musical transcriptions, it illuminates the lives, struggles, and overlooked voices of men and women in the South Wales valleys, offering a powerful reflection on memory and identity.
All pieces will be performed by Sinfonia Cymru.
