Medieval Bestiary Workshop

Medieval monks used to make beautiful illuminated books called bestiaries, featuring artwork and stories of animals and monsters to educate and entertain their readers. In this workshop you’ll get to hear some of these stories and see some of these artworks. Once inspired by these you can have a go at making your own artwork, learning about how the medieval monks managed to get their hands on their broad range of colours. Lastly we will try out some writing with ink just like the monks, and write some stories about the animal we have painted.
