14 JULY, YORK CYCLING NIGHT: Olympic silver medallist Emma Pooley tells stories from her unique career, as she launches her new memoir/recipe book, Oat to Joy.
Emma Pooley didn’t start cycling until her twenties, but went on to race at three Olympic Games - taking a silver medal at Beijing in 2008. Emma won multiple stage races, and was a time trial World Champion. Emma later switched her talents to other endurance events, winning the Lausanne marathon and a string of world titles at duathlon (running and cycling).
'Oat to Joy' is a candid and articulate memoir, showing us inside the Team GB Olympic project but also comes with recipes inspired by Emma's long-time search, as an athlete, for tasty, natural nutrition and snacks, within a wider culture of ultra-processed energy products.
Emma will be discussing her experiences with former Procycling magazine writer Duncan Steer.
Early tickets are £13 or £31 including a hardback copy of Oat to Joy (RRP £29).
