Class meets once a week for 8 weeks, Wednesdays 6-9 PM, July 9 - August 27th, $300

Making, attaching, and altering forms to build creative (functional or sculptural) structures/vessels will be the primary skills covered in this workshop with Megan Adams Irving. We will focus on creating closed forms with lids or stoppers. Toni Hacker will join us for the last class to create our own custom perfumes to fill a bottle.

Megan has been part of the Smithy Clay Studio community since she moved to the area in 2014. She recently became our administrator, overseeing the programming and day-to-day operations. She received her degree in studio art from Bard College and has exhibited artwork regionally and nationally. To her, clay is a painterly medium with endless creative possibilities. She loves to share skills with other makers and see how they apply them to their work.

Toni says, "I've always loved fragrance and the way that scent can completely transport you to a specific place, set a mood, and create memories." Her business uses only certified organic ingredients as carriers in their perfumes, including organic sugar cane alcohol, vegetable glycerin, shea butter, sweet almond oil, coconut oil, beeswax, and jojoba oil.
