Cathy Haney Research Library Dedication

For those that don’t know, Cathy Haney ran the Clay
County Museum for 40 years and eventually earned the
nickname ‘Hat Lady’. She was instrumental in getting the
Historical Society started in 1972. One of Cathy’s goals was to
keep history alive, especially to kids. Cathy sadly passed away
in 2016 at the age of 75.
One of our goals since moving into the new museum was
to honor her in some way. Cathy never wanted the museum
named after her, but she didn’t say we couldn’t name
something inside the museum after her.
Please join us on July 3 from 2-4pm at the Clay County
Museum as we dedicate the Cathy Haney Research Library
in her honor. We invite you to come share stories of Cathy if
you knew her, or come get to know her if you didn’t. We will
have all of Cathy’s favorite refreshments as well.
