Tibor Varga Competition 2025 | 1st Round

The next edition of the Tibor Varga International Violin Competition will take place in Sion from August 22 to 30, 2025 🎻
A total of 28 young violinists under the age of 30 will compete before an international jury chaired by Pavel Vernikov

- 𝗗𝗘𝗦𝗖𝗥𝗜𝗣𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 -
The first round of the Tibor Varga Competition, which takes place at Pôle Musique on August 23 and 24, 2025, focuses on the solo violin repertoire. The 28 selected candidates are invited to perform three major works from the repertoire: two consecutive movements of a Partita or Sonata by J. S. Bach, one of the six Sonatas for solo violin, Op.27 by Eugène Ysaÿe, and Shin Kim's Capriccio for solo violin, a piece specially commissioned for the 2025 edition. The nine-member jury, drawn from a wide range of musical backgrounds, rigorously and sympathetically assesses each performance, while offering constructive feedback to the participants. This first round, broadcast live, is a real showcase for the new generation of violinists and a decisive step towards the selection of the semi-finalists.
