Bobcats are Back!

Ohio’s only wildcat is mounting a comeback! Bobcats are elusive, charismatic, and ecologically important carnivores. Loss of critical habitat and over-hunting led to their extirpation in our state by the mid-1800s, but in recent years, Project Wild Coshocton (a research team at The Ohio State University Newark) began documenting the distribution of bobcats in east-central Ohio using trail cameras.
Join us for an evening with Dr. Shauna Weyrauch, Senior Lecturer in the department of Evolution, Ecology and Organismal Biology at The Ohio State University at Newark, to discover the secret lives of bobcats and the factors that have enabled them to return to our state.
Dr. Weyrauch will sign copies of her new children’s book, The Boy and the Bobcat, following her presentation.
