Stone House History’s Jay returns to Fort Ligonier this weekend with two hands-on workshops featuring green woodworking and treenware. Participants will make their own spurtle (a flat, wooden kitchen tool) while learning how to safely use green woodworking tools. Participants will also examine pieces of original treenware from Fort Ligonier’s collection during the three-hour workshop. Select your day and register now! Only five spaces per workshop are available.
Treenware (wooden cooking tools and bowls made completely out of wood) originated from the early settlers and pioneers out of necessity. Today, treenware is still popular for decorative and cooking purposes.
Available Workshop Dates (select one):
Saturday, August 9, 2025: 1 - 4 p.m.
Sunday, August 10, 2025: 9 a.m. - noon
Cost: $50 (includes all materials, tools to use during class, and 3 hour class)
Note: Based on Individual Skill level, projects may not be completely finished during class.
