6-Week Beginner Gouache Course

Have you wanted to try a new medium, but are afraid to invest in new materials? Here’s a chance to begin your practice. In this 6-week gouache course Miss Ruthie will instruct students who are beginners with gouache. Gouache is an opaque, water-based medium that is made up of gum arabic, water, and pigment. The best thing about gouache is that it’s highly pigmented and dries to a beautiful matte, velvet-like texture. Students will learn and use a variety of gouache supplies and materials. Students will explore many gouache techniques, work on their technical art skills like brush precision and pressure, blending, color theory, etc. These sessions will start with some exercises together, and then will open up to practice on your own. Using the techniques and skills learned through studies and technical drills, students will create a final gouache piece of their choosing by the end of the course.
