The is an annual event to commemorate the battle that took place in 1843 when Multuggerah and his warriors resisted the in roads into their homeland by white settlers. It is a key part of colonial Queensland’s history. While the actual battle was fought over two days the event symbolizes more than five years of a fierce resistance campaign. This battle was reported widely in local newspapers in 1843 and was hailed as a significant act of resistance on the part of Aboriginal “tribes”.
