Bat Walk at Lyndon Nature Reserve, Rutland Water
Advertisement
Join members of Leicestershire and Rutland Bat Group for an introductory talk about bats, followed by a walk from Lyndon Hill Visitor Centre (please note the Centre will not be open). Bat detectors will be used to see and identify at least two species of pipistrelles, Daubenton’s bats over the reservoir and Noctule bats high above us. The walk will end at around 11pm. Booking is essential.
Walks are free to bat group members and £3 for others.
As with all evening events, even in the summer, the weather can be cool after sunset. Wear warm clothes and bring a torch. The walks may be over uneven/wet ground so please wear appropriate footwear. If the weather looks ‘iffy’ it is worth checking your emails before you set off in case of cancellation. If it is raining heavily or windy the event is unlikely to go ahead. Some bat detectors will be available but if you have your own, please bring it.
Booking is essential for all walks/surveys as numbers are limited.
