Digitonal

Digitonal have been writing and performing their brand of cinematic, downbeat instrumental music for over 20 years. Part of the 2nd wave of UK ambient electronica, the project sits in a multi-influence groove charting a course from neoclassical minimalism to 90s coffee shop jazz, with a glitchy, electronica heartbeat in the mix with human musicianship and expression.

With producer and clarinettist Andrew Dobson at the project's core, Digitonal has been a collaborative project, notably including violinist Samy Bishai, producer Dom Graveson, harpist Kat Arney and cellist Jo Quail.

They have released four studio albums, a series of EPs and compilation appearances for a diverse range of grassroots labels, and been on remix and producer duties for artists including classical stalwart Max Richter, longtime labelmates Marconi Union, groundbreaking singers Kirsty Hawkshaw and Kelli Ali and UK techno pioneers B12.

Now living in his adopted Suffolk home, Andrew continues to write and perform, both as Digitonal and also as classic IDM throwback project, Alphabox and his own reflection on organic ambient music, Of the Night Sky.

Kypski

Kypski started out as a sixfold Dutch scratching champion and dj, but eventually followed his heart, and entered the realms of sound design, composition, beat making and music production. The turntable is his main musical instrument, on which his thirst for innovation is expressed. Then, he toured the world with his now inactive group C-Mon & Kypski. Now, Kypski has built his ‘Syntablism’ system wich enables him to turntable scratch any parameter of the modular synth, and he improvises new musical works on the spot while doing so. He releases these works on the Wic Recordings music label. Heavily influenced by the likes of turntable pioneers Q-bert, D-styles and Sircut, he now has reached a level in wich he can actually create new sounds and music with his turntable, instead of just manipulating existing sounds. He has finally found his own voice of true artistic expression. This voice he uses in his two current main musical projects being ‘KROON’, an electronic trio consisting of Kypski, Kubus and Hajo Krijger: they make Mondrianic, Genrefluid Bass music – as released on Vision Recordings. And the other being his solo Syntablism works, as released on Wic Recordings and Kypski Music.

Cinema Perdu

Cinema Perdu (Martijn Pieck) wants to musically (re)create the feeling of a place at a certain time, sometimes its more factual, sometimes its more storytelling.

Live-perfomances are for the most part improvisations in which sounds and structures are used from past and upcomming releases.

Besides projects shown below Martijn makes music for film, theater and performance art and work on an interactive music machine.
