Costa Rica Flute Festival Artist-Faculty Recital: Christine Erlander Beard & Lilian Buss Pearson

My recital will take place on Thursday evening (Day 4) of the festival. There's a LOT of musical messaging packed into this short 25-minute program! The 1st 2 works are dedicated to all the victims of war around the world, including Gaza and Ukraine. The next 2 pieces have been chosen in remembrance of all the lives lost during the Holocaust, as 2025 is the 80th anniversary of the end of WWII. The final work has been selected to remind us that we are part of the human race - living on this one Earth - and we need to learn to respect those different than us and choose to live in peace and harmony rather than killing each other (along with this planet).
It's a bit strange to not be featuring any piccolo this time around, but here it is:
Christine Erlander Beard, flute
Lilian Buss Pearson, piano
Wissam Boustany (LEB/UK b. 1960): "Broken Child"
[attacca]
Thomas de Hartmann (UKR 1885-1956): “Armenian Song” from Ancient Songs and Rhythms)
Dick Kattenburg (NL 1919-1944): Introduzione from Sonata, Op. 5
[attacca]
Ilse Weber (CZ 1903-1944) [arr. C. Domenici]: "Wiegala" (Lullaby)
Takatsugu Muramatsu (JPN b. 1978): "Earth"
