On Sunday, August 24th, The Mahoning Drive-In Theater in Lehighton, Pennsylvania presents another in our series of “Scorsese Sunday” 35mm screenings, with a special 45th anniversary celebration of Martin Scorsese’s masterpiece RAGING BULL (1980).
Featuring Robert De Niro in a stylish black and white telling of the black and blue life of boxer Jake LaMotta, whose violent temper served him well in the ring, and less so out of it.
Nominated for 8 Academy Awards and winning two (for star De Niro and editor Thelma Schoonmaker), RAGING BULL is a poetically presented paean to pugilism, beautifully shot, dynamically edited, and powerfully acted, and a film whose characters and fight sequences will linger with you long after the projectors stop.
