Director Billy O’Brien crafts a depiction of loneliness in middle-america through John Wayne Cleaver, the teenage son of a mortician with regular problems: he lives in the middle of nowhere shovelling snow, doesn’t know how to talk to his peers and is a diagnosed psychopath struggling to fit in and resist his urges. When bodies start showing up with organs missing, John becomes determined to find out who the culprit is and if they are the same. Filmed in 16mm and featuring a crushing and disparate analogue score, there's a nostalgia to the horror; a classic Midnight movie.
