Learn the language of birds
If you think birdwatching could-be your thing, head along to BirdLife WA’s winter bird class on June 28 to explore the possibilities.
According to life-long birder Brendan Kinsella, birdwatching is as much about bird listening. Let him introduce you to some common bird calls and show you how to expand your bird “vocabulary”. Brendan will also cover some of the basics of identifying birds you spot.
After a mid-morning break, Dr Rochelle Steven will look at how birdwatching works for conservation, a huge part of the work of BirdLife WA.
The workshop will run from 10am to noon on Saturday, June 28, at the Gould League’s Herdsman Discovery Centre in Wembley.
With home-made goodies to eat during the break and coffee available from the centre’s café, Twitchers, the morning goes to another level.
There will be binoculars there for those who want to put their new bird identification skills into practice from the centre’s front veranda.
The Discovery Centre is accessed from the corner of Flynn and Selby Streets, Wembley.
The workshop costs $20. To book go to Humanitix.
