Free Private Well Water Quality Testing - Las Vegas

The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) and New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) will be offering up to 100 free water tests for private wells serving homes not connected to a water utility in Miguel and Mora County and surrounding communities.

• pH
• Nitrate
• Iron
• Sulfate
• Fluoride
• Arsenic
• Electrical conductivity
How to collect a water sample:
1. Fill a clean glass or plastic container with at least a quart (or
32 oz.) of your well water.
2. If the home has a whole house filtration system, collect the
water as the well head prior to any filtration or softener
systems, if possible.
3. Let the water run 2-3 minutes before collecting the sample.
4. Collect the sample as close to the time of testing as possible.
