Collaged Narratives in Mixed Media Encaustic with Lorraine Glessner

Utilizing the natural luminosity, textural and layering possibilities of encaustic, participants will combine and collage photographic images and marks to explore, communicate, or entertain through visual narrative. Through journalling and mark-making, participants will explore personal histories, stories and myths to be used as inspiration for collage. This workshop covers basic encaustic collage techniques as well as mark-making using horse hair, graphite paper and image transfer. A slide talk discussing basic principles of composition, working within the grid and examples of contemporary artist’s work in collage is also offered.
