The annual Bill Withers Music Festival will be held on Saturday, June 28, from 1 pm – 8 pm.
Eight music acts will be featured including HGTA Theatre Group, Trey Waycaster on saxophone, Moon King, Three Piece Suit, Jim Snyder & Friends, Lady D and Mi$$ion, Lorenzo Wood, and Shayar & Kroshal Force.
Also, a Dance Party is planned from 7-8 pm with dance instructor Clarissa Hall and DJ New York.
The Youth Creative Arts Contest winners will also be recognized midway through the event. A dozen painted guitar forms will be on display during the new guitar public art project around the plaza.
Food vendors and activity booths set up at the event held at the Bill Withers Plaza – Beckley Intermodal Gateway on Neville Street.
The event is free for the public to attend thanks to sponsors City of Beckley, the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Dance Party sponsors Transcend Realty and Uptown Dish, Art Contest sponsors Jose Rizo and Ernie Oakes, and the guitar art sponsors.
On Sunday, June 29, the Raleigh Playhouse and Theatre will present a showing of Still Bill – the documentary about Bill Withers at 4 pm. Admission is $5.
