Branch Out Event: Elk in the Smokies!

October is prime mating season for elk, (called the rut), and it means we will likely have the opportunity to experience some pretty amazing sights and sounds. Hearing an elk bugle is a very special experience, and observing the behavior of these wild animals up close is both impressive and remarkable.

Part of our day will consist of a discussion about elk and their biology, along with the reintroduction program here in the Smokies. We will also enjoy a short Naturalist Ramble on a nearby trail to increase our chances of seeing these majestic animals, among other natural delights.
