Julie Doiron’s musical journey spans decades, marked by her distinct voice, raw vulnerability, and unwavering commitment to make authentic and deeply personal music. She is a beloved and influential figure in Canada’s indie music scene having been a founding member of Eric’s Trip, the first Canadian act signed to Sub Pop, and recipient of 2017’s Polaris Prize Heritage Award. In 1993 she co-founded Sappy Records and in 2006 she co-founded Atlantic Canada’s Sappyfest, cementing her role as a passionate advocate and supporter of independent music

Julie’s solo career launched with Broken Girl in 1996 and has spanned nearly three decades, including Polaris-nominated and Juno-winning releases like Woke Myself Up, So Many Days, and 2021’s I Thought Of You. Along the way she’s made two full length albums with Mount Eerie, recorded for labels like Numero Group, Sub Pop, Jagjaguwar, and You’ve Changed, and collaborated with Gord Downie, Herman Düne, and Daniel Romano.

In late 2024, Doiron saw a remarkable resurgence when “August 10” from her debut solo album went viral on TikTok, amassing over 65 million streams in a matter of months and landing on Billboard’s TikTok chart. With a new generation discovering her work, Numero Group is reissuing Broken Girl and Loneliest In The Morning this April and Julie is hitting the road to share intimate songs and stories from her remarkable life in music.

As a live performer, Julie captivates audiences with her evocative voice and vulnerable stage presence whether performing solo or with projects like Julie and the Wrong Guys or her duo with Dany Placard, she continues to enchant audiences with her intimate, fearless live shows. Julie remains a central figure in the fabric of Canadian music, inspiring both longtime fans and a new generation of listeners.

Caged Animals is the recording project of songwriter Vin Cacchione. Born in a bedroom in the DIY haze of early 2010’s Brooklyn, Caged Animals has released records on Lucky Number Music, toured internationally, and shared stages with DIIV, Jeffrey Lewis, The Rapture, Blood Orange, and Mac Demarco along the way. In 2011 “Teflon Heart” became a top 10 single in Germany and their songs have been used in film,TV, and podcasts. Vin recently composed the score for The Space Within which stars Jessica Chastain, as well as, the Webby Award winning podcast Conversations With People Who Hate Me.
The son of a NYC stand-up comic and a public school teacher, Vin grew up in NJ where he learned he’d always have to try a little harder. He gravitated to the songwriting scene at the East Village’s fabled Sidewalk Café, where you lived or died by what you had to say. From early solo performances to his underrated 2000’s work in the noir-tinged Soft Black (with DIIV’s Cole Smith), Vin’s songs have maintained a cutting sincerity and unique perspective.

Over the last decade, Vin produced the debut album for legendary writer Larry “Ratso” Sloman, working with Nick Cave, Warren Ellis, and Yasmine Hamdan in the process. He has also collaborated with pioneering figures in fiction podcasting like Welcome to Night Vale and Hedwig creator John Cameron Mitchell, honing his craft as a storyteller and songwriter along the way.

On Make Strange Friends, Caged Animals upcoming You’ve Changed Records release, Vin’s songs arrive in their most intimate and ambitious form yet. It was recorded to tape with Canadian songwriter Jon Mckiel in the hazy post-pandemic years after moving from Brooklyn to Sackville, NB, and pairs nine character-driven songs with an absurdist radio drama bringing Vin’s work in song and fiction podcasting into alignment. Caged Animals will be supporting legendary Canadian songwriter Julie Doiron for her American shows during the summer of 2025.
