Family Led Death Care: Best Practices for Hospice and Medical Providers

Participants in this class will be gently guided in learning how to:
1. Ask questions that invite families to be as involved post-death as they want to be.
2. Prevent "zipper trauma" to loved ones during transport of the deceased.
3. Prevent the dehumanization of the dead (and why this matters).
4. Advocate for themselves or patients in one of the most restrictive states in the U.S. when it comes to funeral law.
5. Shroud (wrap a loved one in fabric for burial, an option that is legal and available to families here in Fort Wayne) or guide families in body care.
