Looking for fresh inspiration for your perennial garden? Learn about the landscape design approaches of Frank Lloyd Wright and Ellen Biddle Shipman as seen at the Martin House and Graycliff. Guided by Graycliff Head Gardener Emma Hahn, participants will study both the Floricycle and the Picking Garden, the showstopper perennial gardens of the two Martin family homes. Design principles will be identified from both gardens and Emma will break down how to practically apply these concepts in home gardens.
The class will cover how different types of plants function as design elements to help us achieve our vision. Participants will bring sketches of current or proposed garden beds and apply what has been learned to redesign their perennial areas with Emma’s assistance. Each participant will leave with a plant divided from the Martin House landscape to add to their newly designed space!
Location: Check in at Greatbatch Pavilion Visitor Center at the Martin House. You will be both outside and then moving inside to the education center for the workshop.
