North Carolina Yam Festival at Tabor City

The North Carolina Yam Festival has various events in October with THE BIG YAM DAY taking place on the Fourth Saturday in October!

We begin with the Youth Sweet Potato Planting Day in the Spring.

The first Saturday in October is the Miss NC Yam Festival Scholarship Pageant.

The week leading up to festival Saturday, we have a Sweet Potato Quality Contest, Sweet Potato Cook-off, BIG Student & Adult Art & Photography Show, Hat Decorating Contest, Post Card Design Contest, Paint A Yam Man Class, Taste of Tabor event with a live band, a Street Dance, and more, then on Saturday we have loads of vendors (crafts, retail, food & more), a Parade, huge Car Show, a variety of live entertainment by bands & locals, pie eating contest, raffles, high school band competition at South Columbus High School, and much more!
