One of Queensland's jazz treasures, Renae Suttie, will be performing at The Presynct with The New School Jazz Trio on Thursday 20 November. The voice behind countless television and radio advertisements, including Channel 7’s “Love You Queensland”, Renae will be doing what she loves best….JAZZ!
Step back in time as they bring new life to an era of jazz when it was sung from the heart. Renae's virtuosic scatting is reminiscent of the likes of Ella Fitzgerald and Mel Torme and the band's mastery of their instruments takes these classic songs to greater heights.
The group will also be performing songs from their "New School Jazz” EP, along with a host of original compositions by local jazz songwriters.

ABOUT RENAE AND THE BAND
Renae Suttie - Vocals
Following her music studies at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and University of Queensland, Renae has been performing professionally for the past 34 years. She has worked the international 5-star hotel circuit extensively and performed with high profile Australian artists such as Ian Moss, Daryl Braithwaite, Wendy Matthews and The Eurogliders. As a session singer, Renae's voice can be heard on many Australian television and radio advertisements, including Channel 7’s “Love You Queensland”.
Renae performs regularly at music festivals such as Caloundra Music Festival; Day On The Bay; Broadbeach Blends Of Jazz Festival and the Noosa International Food and Wine Festival. Renae received the “Jazz Vocalist Award” at the 2007 ABC Valley Jazz Festival and has released an album of jazz originals called “Starlight”.

Marnix van Bruggen - Piano
Marnix started playing piano in his country of birth, The Netherlands. After Jazz piano studies at The Hague Conservatorium, he led weekly sessions in renowned jazz clubs in The Hague such as Cafe Van Merlen, The Hague Beer Cellar Jazz Club and Jazz Bar Murphy’s Law.
Marnix has performed extensively throughout Holland, Belgium and Germany with DeJaVu | Acoustic Jazz Lounge Group who released their debut album in 2014. He has played at numerous jazz festivals in Holland, including the prestigious North Sea Jazz Festival. With Dutch jazz singer Judith Nijland, he recently played jazz concerts on main Australian stages such as Sydney-Foundry 616, Melbourne–Paris Cat Jazz Club, Brisbane Jazz Club, Doo Bop Jazz club Brisbane, and Perth–Ellington jazz club.
Elliot Parker – Double Bass
Elliott Parker has been involved in the Brisbane jazz scene since 2013 and has developed a superlative feel for jazz rhythm and tone. Refining his skills with music degrees at JMI (Jazz Music Institute) and the Qld Conservatorium of Music, Elliott has showcased his skills across Australia and Internationally playing with notable musicians such as James Sandon, Steve Newcomb, Barney Mcall, Jerome Jennings, Vince Gardner, Nick Hempton, Wil Sargisson, Graham Norris, Tyrone Noonan, and many more. Elliot is also a highly respected music mentor, teaching youth programs on Double Bass at JMI and Qld Conservatorium of Music.
Mitch Bellert – Drums
Mitch has gained notoriety nationally and internationally as a sideman and bandleader. Specialising in Jazz, Mitch has a strong rudimentary background, paired with a flair for improvisation. Skilled in Music Theory, Jazz Education, Music Education, Arranging, Composing, Mitch has been teaching drums since 2014.
His teaching style has a focus on both building a strong fundamental base to play and improvise without mental or physical restrictions in any genre. He has a Bachelor of Music majoring in Jazz Performance from JMI (Jazz Music Institute), graduating in 2015.
