Sun Printing

Learn how to create one of the earliest forms of photography – a cyanotype or ‘blueprint’. Come join our 45-minute sessions on the 12th or 13th of August at 10:15 AM, 11:15 AM, 1 PM, and 2 PM. The artist will supply all materials, and instruction and support will be provided.

By placing materials, such as dried flowers, onto a specially coated (non-toxic) light-sensitive paper, you will create beautiful images as the sunlight changes the colour of the paper. We will rinse the print in water and hang it up to dry. This is where history, art and science meet, and the results are magical! You will take away some mini-prints and a keyring as a keepsake.

This event is recommended for children aged 5+ and their parents/carers. Parents/carers must remain with their children throughout the event.

The workshop will take place in the Lower Tudor Room, which is accessible to all and located on the ground floor and outside the front of the building. For useful information, such as how to find us and what facilities Christchurch Mansion has, we recommend reading our Access information.
