A chance to take a Sunday stroll and see something new along the way on a walk exploring Chester's lost religious houses.
This relaxed Sunday stroll will explore areas in the western part of Chester which were once dominated by a number of friaries and nunneries. Your professional local guide, Katie, will share some stories from this period along the route but you'll also have plenty of chance to chat with fellow walkers.
Today, there is little to remind us of these religious communities beyond street names, but we'll explore the significant role they once played in medieval Chester and the legacy they left behind. We'll also look at what replaced them in this part of the city following their closure, including a modern-day friary still operating at the heart of our city.
