Auditions for Rodgers + Hammerstein’s "Cinderella"
Open Auditions: Sunday, July 13 at 6:00 PM & Monday, July 14 at 6:00 PM
Show Dates: September 18, 19, & 20 @ 7:30 pm, September 21 @ 2 PM

Open auditions for Altoona Community Theatre’s production of “Cinderella” will be held Sunday and Monday, July 13 & 14, beginning 6:00 p.m. in the Historic Mishler Theatre, 1208 12th Street, Downtown Altoona. Auditionees need only attend one night of auditions unless asked to also attend callback, which are expected to be held as needed Tuesday July 15 starting at 6 p.m.
Auditions will consist of singing and cold readings from the script. Auditionees should be 8 years of age or older. Note that all speaking roles will require age 17 or older. There will be a limited number of children 8-16 used in ensemble numbers and for specialized puppetry tasks. Everyone should be prepared with 16 to 32 bars of any Rodgers and Hammerstein song that showcases their ability. No unaccompanied singing will be permitted. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring paper copies of your sheet music in the appropriate key. A song will be taught to those without a prepared number.
Everyone will participate in a general movement audition. No special dance clothing is required, just clothes and shoes that are comfortable to move in.
Actors must be available for all performances (September 16 through September 21, 2025). Availability for rehearsals will be asked at auditions. Please be prepared to list all conflicts from auditions through performance dates. Rehearsals are expected to begin at 7:00 p.m.
If you are unable to attend general auditions, please contact the ACT Office at least a week in advance to discuss scheduling an alternative audition time.

This contemporary take on the treasured fairy tale features some of their most beloved songs including “In My Own Little Corner,” “Impossible,” and “Ten Minutes Ago” in this romantic (and hilarious) update.
Winning nine 2013 Tony Awards including Best Revival of a Musical, critics called it, “Reassuringly old-fashioned and refreshingly irreverent, sentimental and snarky, sincere and ironic, all at once!”
Available Roles:
Ella: Idealistic and hopeful, she courageously challenges the prince to change the policies in the kingdom - and helps him discover who he truly is. Soprano B3-Eb5
Topher: A misguided and lost prince who longs to do something important with his life. Baritone C#3-A4
Madame: Ella’s selfish stepmother, the epitome of vanity and fashion. MezzoSoprano C4-D5
Sebastian: The kingdom’s Lord Chancellor and trusted advisor to the Prince, though uses propaganda and dishonesty to keep Topher in the dark about his kingdom. Baritone C3-E4
Marie: A friend to Ella and the town’s crazy lady and beggar who also happens to be a Fairy Godmother. Soprano A3-Ab5
Gabrielle: Ella’s stepsister and publicly follows her mother and sister but secretly empathetic, passionate, and drawn to Ella and Jean-Michel. Soprano C4-G5
Charlotte: Ella’s stepsister who is brash, self-centered, materialistic and always wants to be the center of attention. Mezzo-Soprano B3-F5
Jean-Michel: A feisty, passionate peasant determined to make a change for the starving class. Also has a crush on Gabrielle. Baritone C3-G4
Lord Pinkleton: Sebastian’s right-hand man who announces royal balls, banquets and occasionally the weather to the villagers. Tenor D3-A4
Ensemble: Interchanging parts to include a Giant, Fox and Raccoon, Footman, Coachman, Knights, Peasants, Townspeople, Ladies and Gentlemen of the Court, Etc
All roles are available. No prior theatrical or ACT experience is required.
Roles are open to racially diverse and gender-inclusive casting for actors of all physical and neurological abilities. Our casting seeks to be as inclusive as possible and we invite gender nonconforming, genderqueer, transgender, and nonbinary actors to select the roles they most identify with.
