Create a Felted Moorland Scene, Family Activity

This is a drop-in activity, you do not need to purchase tickets online.
Drop-in any time between 11am - 2pm for this hands-on, creative workshop where families will explore the art of felting to create a beautiful moorland mini wall hanging inspired by the local scenery, with workshop wiz Sophie. Using pure wool we will layer a natural, undyed base layer from Sophie’s very own local flock, then adding rich Earthy colours to represent the heather, grass, skies and hills of our surrounding moors.
Participants will learn how to carefully arrange the wool fibres to build depth and texture in their scenes. Once the design is complete, we’ll use warm, soapy water and gentle rolling techniques to transform the loose fibres into a firm, flat felted piece of art. This magical process binds the wool together to create a soft yet sturdy fabric image—perfect to take home and frame or gift.
This workshop is suitable for all ages and abilities, and is a wonderful opportunity for families to get creative together while learning about natural fibres, local landscapes, and traditional textile techniques.
