The Pinch Pot Sampler Workshop will introduce beginners to the pinch pot technique and other basic clay processes to create an interpretation of a pumpkin or pear or their own design. Participants will be introduced to the project details, shared pottery tools, safety and clean up procedures. Each participant will create a practice piece to learn how to make a pinch pot using both the coil and slab techniques, as well as, how to score and add slip to merge clay onto itself. The instructor will demonstrate how to draw the examples in 2D and discuss the best techniques for each part of the creation. Participants will outline their own ideas in a plan drawing. Participants will follow their plan with the instructor assisting as needed. Works will be dried, bisque fired and glazed in transparent glaze off site by the instructor.
