🦟 Join the SWAT Team! Mosquito Prevention Class Teaches Safe & Smart Solutions 🦟
Protect Your Yard, Your Family, and Our Pollinators
Greenwood, SC – July 8 noon to one. – Are mosquitoes driving you mad? Tired of swatting and itching all night? Join us for a fun and informative class that will arm you with powerful tools to battle mosquitoes—without harming the pollinators and beneficial insects we depend on!
This isn’t your average pest talk. We’re assembling the SWAT Team — the Standing Water Attack Team — and you’re invited to become a certified backyard hero.
🧠 What You’ll Learn:
• The #1 cause of mosquito infestations? Standing water. We’ll show you exactly where to look and what to do to eliminate it.
• How to spot and stop mosquito breeding sites in everyday places like flowerpot drainage trays, gutters, birdbaths, and forgotten buckets.
• The “Mosquito Bucket of Doom” – a simple, safe, and surprisingly effective DIY trap that targets mosquitoes in their larval stage before they bite.
• Why pesticides are not the answer. Learn how sprays and foggers can harm bees, butterflies, and other vital garden allies—and why mosquito control doesn’t have to come at nature’s expense.
🌍 Be Part of the Solution
Instead of chemical warfare, we’ll teach you how to outsmart mosquitoes naturally. You’ll leave the class ready to protect your home while preserving the delicate balance of your garden’s ecosystem.
📅 Event Details:
When: Tuesday, July 8 Noon to 1:00
Where: Greenwood Extension office. 105 N. University St.
Cost: Free
Who Should Attend: Homeowners, gardeners, parents, nature lovers—anyone tired of being bitten!
👣 Take Action – Join the SWAT Team!
Participants will receive a SWAT sticker, and step-by-step instructions for building your own Mosquito Bucket of Doom. You’ll also get a checklist to turn your yard into a mosquito-hostile (but pollinator-friendly) zone.
Don’t let mosquitoes take over your summer. Take the first step—take out the standing water.
Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service offers its programs to people of all ages, regardless of race, color, gender, religion, national origin, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital or family status and is an equal opportunity employer.
