Mah Jongg
Meets monthly on the 1st Monday of the Month
1:00pm in the Parlor
All Levels Welcome ~ Come join the fun!
Mah Jongg is a rummy-like game played with tiles, rather than cards. The game originated in China and was popularized in the United States at the beginning of the 20th century.
Mah Jongg has also been a way for people to find community. It brings together people who may not have otherwise known each other and helps forge friendships (often lifelong), through regular games. Though game time tends to be focused and fast-paced, there's just the right amount of time during the shuffling of the tiles and during breaks to get to know one another and build strong relationships.
Studies have shown that playing Mah Jongg provided benefits such as enhanced cognitive health and social and emotional support. The activity offers a sense of competency and satisfaction and a feeling of youthfulness, and it also served as a form of mental exercise.
Those wishing to join or have questions, please contact the Church Office and we will put you in contact with Pam McGee, the Fellowship Committee Chair.
