Workshop – Beginning to Intermediate Paper Marbling Intensive

A two-day workshop with Jennifer Omaitz, Master Marbler with the Morgan Paper Conservatory.
Sat, Aug 9 – Sun, Aug 10, 10 AM-4 PM

Marbling consists of suspending inks on a bed of thickened water (carrageenan). These inks are raked through a series of swirls, zigzags, and other gestures to transform a given design. The outcome is then printed, similar to mono printing, on a surface of choice.

Learn the ancient art of marbling on paper with this intensive workshop. Students will explore patterns and designs by marbling on a variety of papers. We will also explore color combinations and marbling techniques through both traditional (Ebru) and non-traditional approaches. Beginner through intermediate students are welcome. Previous experience with marbling is unnecessary; a thorough introduction and series of demos will guide students through the workshop experience.

* Throughout the weekend, participants can expect to make 15-20 sheets of 18" x 24" marbled paper, in a variety of prints, patterns, and discoveries. (You won’t want to stop!)

$225 + $35 materials fee = $260

Class size is limited, register at https://kalbookarts.org/workshops/beginning-to-intermediate-paper-marbling-intensive/
