Cursive Camp: Reading Old Handwriting

Old documents can be difficult to read. This class will help you decipher handwriting and interpret meaning in the text. Reading old handwriting is an essential skill for any researcher - from census records and marriage certificates to letters and diary entries. In this session, you will learn about the various styles of American handwriting and the techniques used to read these documents. We’ll look at original pieces from our Archives as well as reproductions to give hands-on experience to build this important skill.
