June 21 Sketch-Meet at the Zoo

Our June 21st sketch meet will be at the Edmonton Valley Zoo (13315 Buena Vista Road) and we will begin with a special treat. Edmonton artist Misty Ring is the Zoo’s resident artist for 2025. Her project is titled “Painting for Conservation” and throughout the year she is creating a series of life-sized paintings of Canadian wildlife with a focus on Alberta species. We will have a chance to see what Misty has been painting and she will give us a short talk to explain this unique art and conservation project

We will meet at 10:45am inside the Zoo entrance. This will give us time to pay for admission (adult $15.95/senior $12.95/child $9.95) and make our way to the Saito Centre (#19 on the map) for 11:00am where Misty’s painting project is located. After her talk, sketchers can disperse to any location in the Zoo to sketch until 1:00pm.

We will meet at 1:00pm for photos and sketch sharing back at the seating area inside the Zoo entrance (#2 on the map beside Wild Neighbours Café) and then we can go for lunch at the Café.
