Moonlight Canoe Trip

Twilight is an amazing time to listen and look for wildlife. Beavers, owls, loons, and other wildlife are all possible to spot at Buckley Dunton Lake in October Mountain State Forest. We'll quietly explore the coves and inlets of this beautiful lake, then hitch our boats together while we listen for nocturnal wildlife sounds. If the sky is clear, we'll see the full moon rise over the water and light our way after the sun sets.

This will be a leisurely canoe on a section of water classified as flatwater, with frequent stops along the way. This program requires about an hour of continuous use of the abdominal muscles and shoulders as well as the ability to bend down and lift your knees up toward your waist to get in and out of the canoe. The footing at the boat ramp might be uneven or slippery.

Pre-registration is required.
