July Hike of the Month Club

Sunday, July 6, 2025, 9 am - Hillman State Park, meeting on Knowlton Road at Colt and Pitch Pine trailheads. Directions: From the town of Florence, PA (Rt 18 and Old Steubenville Pike), go east 2.3 miles to Knowlton Road on the left (dirt road). Turn left onto Knowlton for just under a mile to the Colt and Pitch Pine trail signs, where there is extra space along the road to park. From Rt 22 (Bavington exit), go 2.6 miles west to Knowlton Road on the right. A large white building sits across from Knowlton Road with the word KNOWLTON in big red letters. I always look for this building on Old Steubenville Pike as a good landmark for where to turn. Turn right on a dirt road for just less than a mile to signs for the Colt and Pitch Pine trail(40.438387, -80.377396). We will hike the Pitch Pine, Figure Eight, and Colt trails. for 5 miles, with lots of evergreens on this 2.5-hour hike. Dog friendly. This is a Moderate hike; make sure you can hike at 2.2 mph on average in the hills.
