On August 13th at 6:30pm, the Garfield Heights Historical Society is hosting Tom Kaschalk, author of Cleveland Neighborhood Taverns: A Pub Crawl Through History.

The presentation will be at the Garfield Heights Public Library, 5409 Turney Rd, in Meeting Room B. The event is free, and the author will have his book for sale afterward.

Cleveland’s neighborhood taverns are more than just places to grab a drink—they are living pieces of history, filled with stories of immigrants, entrepreneurs, and everyday people who built the city. From the frontier saloons of the 1800s to the vibrant family-run bars of the 20th century, these watering holes were the heart of their communities.

Let’s explore the rich history and cultural significance of the city's neighborhood taverns and their pivotal role in shaping Cleveland’s social and cultural fabric.
