Great wine doesn't have to be expensive BUT...some juice is iconic for a reason. We're taking a swazz at 4 top tier appellations
:
Wine 1: Domaine Roc de l'Abbaye '`L'Antique`' Pouilly-Fumé - Sauvignon Blanc, Loire, France
The grapes are sourced from 15 to 25 year-old vines from two hectares of vines grown on silex soils in Pouilly-Fumé. This unique soil produces grapes with a mineral, flint character and intense salinity.
Wine 2: Domaine de Montille, Meursault `Saint Christophe` - Chardonnay, Burgundy, France
Domaine de Montille's Meursault 'Saint-Christophe' blends three climats; each one recognised for its exceptional quality and remarkable position on the middle of the Meursault hillside.
Wine 3: Burn Cottage 'Moonlight Race' - Pinot Noir, Central Otago, New Zealand
Fruit for the Moonlight Race is sourced from two unique estate vineyards: Burn Cottage Vineyard in Lowburn (57%) and Sauvage Vineyard in Bannockburn. Aged in French oak barrels for 12 months before release, the resulting wine is meant for earlier drinking.
Wine 4: Poggio al Tesoro 'Sondraia' Bolgheri Superiore - Cab Sav/Franc, Bolgheri, Italy
The ‘Sondraia’, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc has a pure cassis note on the nose that gives way to a lovely depth of fruit on the palate.
Wine 5: San Lorenzo 'The Pearl' - Zinfandel, Alexander Valley, USA
One of the most iconic vineyards in California, located alongside the Russian River and spanning both the Russian River Valley and Alexander Valley appellations.
