Arriving at Portland Port UK
A day of mystery,history,scenery and picture opportunities and fun. Off Ship and of we go, relax and enjoy the stunning countyside that Dorset has to offer, arrive at our furthest stop, the world famous Stonehenge, you go of to explore and investigate, who constructed it, where did the Stones come from, how was it built, can you work out the mysteries of Stonehenge. Then we drive 20 minutes to the stunning Salisbury Cathedral built in the 12th century, home of one of the 4 remaining copies of the Magna Carta, one of the highest spiers in the UK. Amazing architecture. Go in to the city and explore and shop. Then we head back to Weymouth so relax for a hour, in Weymouth you can visit the beach, picturesque old harbour, watch the boats go by while sampling the local fish and chips and a beer, gift shops are many. Then we take the short trip back to Portland but we are not going back to Ship just yet !!! No we are heading to the top of the island to take in the stunning view along the longest natural beach in the UK 18 miles of the famous Chesil Beach, just here we also have the Olympic Rings as Portland had the Sailing Olympics in 2012, London had everything else. Also here we have........wait for it.....Stonehenge again but Portlands version ? If we have time we could also pop down to Portland Bill ligthouse with more amazing views. As we say all down to time but your day will not be rushed, take your time and enjoy, we will be in the local area in plenty of time to return to Ship, just keep taking those pictures and keep smiling.
