Folk Art Needlecase – first steps in hand embroidery and appliqué
Create your own beautiful and useful felt appliqué folk art style needlecase. Learn how to decorate the appliqué with a range of easy but effective hand embroidery stitches and how to construct a simple book at the same time.
In this workshop, experienced textile artist and tutor Alex Hall, will show you how to dress up some of the easiest embroidery stitches to embellish simple felt appliqué shapes for the cover of your needlecase and then how to stitch the pages and cover together with an easy pamphlet stitch binding.
There will be a variety of felt appliqué shapes, threads and fabric to choose from. Everything you will need to stitch your design will be provided and all materials are included.
At the end of the session you will have your own lovely little hand embroidered appliqué needlecase which you can keep for yourself or give as a gift.
