RACE-approved for 1 hour of CE credit for veterinarians and veterinary technicians!

Plus a Q&A after the lecture!

This webinar will provide a focused overview of the physiology and clinical application of blood transfusion in veterinary medicine. Participants will review the various blood components — such as whole blood, packed red blood cells, plasma, and platelets — and their indications, storage requirements, and administration techniques. Emphasis will be placed on species-specific blood typing and cross-matching protocols, particularly in dogs and cats, to ensure compatibility and reduce the risk of adverse reactions.
The session will also cover proper transfusion procedures, including infusion rates, monitoring, and documentation. Common transfusion reactions will be discussed, along with strategies for early recognition, treatment, and prevention. This webinar is designed to equip veterinarians and veterinary technicians with the essential knowledge and practical tools to safely and effectively perform transfusions in clinical practice.
