An evening of rhythmic invention, lyrical warmth, and raw emotional power.
We open with Hikarizzato | PerCosa — a bold and vibrant new work for percussion and piano, featuring Jauvon Gilliam, Ben Hausman, Corey Sittinger, Malcolm Taylor, Zach Wilson, and pianist Pieter Grobler. This South African premiere promises a thrilling display of percussive colour and virtuosity.
Next, a rare gem: Edouard Dupuy’s Bassoon Quintet in A Minor. Bassoonist Bram van Sambeek leads a stellar ensemble — Nicolas Dautricourt, Farida Bacharova, Xandi van Dijk and Peter Martens — through this elegant and expressive Classical-era work.
After the interval, the intensity deepens with Shostakovich’s Piano Quintet in G minor, Op. 57 — a masterpiece of depth and contrast. Pianist Emanuel Ivanov is joined by Andrey Baranov, Anna Vasilyeva, Daniel Austrich and Maja Bogdanović for a performance of striking clarity and emotional force.
