Admission is free, but space is limited, and advanced registration is required. With your registration, you’ll also receive free admission to the museum galleries to explore the exhibit that inspired the event.

Stop by the Greeley History Museum for a compelling afternoon of storytelling and history, presented in conjunction with the museum’s current exhibit, 13-Minute Warning: Weld County in the Atomic Age. Local author John A. Daly will share a personal account of his connection to one of Weld County’s most intriguing landmarks—the Atlas E missile site just outside Greeley.

Daly, who attended the University of Northern Colorado and lives in Greeley, is a nationally recognized thriller writer. He’s the author of the Sean Coleman Thriller series, a collection of suspense novels. His fourth book in the series, Safeguard, uses the real-life missile site as its backdrop, blending fact with fiction in a high-stakes narrative of survival, secrets, and Cold War tension. Daly will reflect on his own experiences at the now-decommissioned Atlas E facility and explore how its underground corridors and Cold War history shaped the atmosphere and plot of his award-winning novel.

Following the talk, guests will have the opportunity to meet Daly during a book signing of Safeguard. Bring your copy for him to sign, or you can purchase one at the museum gift shop.
