James E Cherry is the author of three volumes of poetry, two novels and a collection of short fiction. His latest collection of poetry, Between Chance and Mercy, was published in 2024 by Aquarius Press. He is the recipient of fellowships from the Martha's Vineyard Creative Writing Institute and Kimbilio for Black Fiction. He has been nominated for a Lillian Smith Book Award and an NAACP Image Award. The second edition of his novel, Edge of the Wind, was published in 2022. Cherry has an MFA in creative writing from the University of Texas at El Paso.
H.C. Palmer is a retired physician and was a battalion surgeon with the First Infantry Division during the American War in Vietnam. He is a native Kansan, a war writer/poet and a son of the Kansas Flint Hills. His short Fiction and poetry has appeared in War, Literature and the Arts, New Letters, Narrative Magazine and other journals and anthologies. His book of poems, Feet of the Messenger from BkMk Press was a finalist for the Balcones Poetry Prize in 2017.
