Introduction to Willow Basketry with Tânia Grazinas Mendes

Basket weaving with plant fibers is one of the oldest and most eco-friendly traditional crafts. Using native plants — like bulrush, rush, willow, or olive shoots — just a pair of scissors and our hands, we can create beautiful and useful baskets.

In this workshop, we’ll be working with willow. You’ll learn how to identify it, prepare it, and weave it. With a few simple techniques, you’ll make your own small round basket to take home at the end of the day.
