Funky Mosaic Flamingo

Create a fun mosaic flamingo, and explore the wonders of picassiette—which is mosaic made using china pieces and found objects. In this class you will be provided with a flamingo that is already set on a lamp stand, and you’ll learn to break ceramics and glass in a controlled manner, to work out a design using the colors and patterns on your pieces. It would be helpful if you have some experience with mosaic—even just setting tiles—this is a project! Each day will cover how to do a section of the flamingo, and Sunday you will learn to grout—or finish placing your tiles if it’s not done yet. If you don’t finish while here, I will send you home with all you need to complete your project!

Materials fee includes a flamingo set onto a weighted lamp base, some china plates and cups, other tesserae, tiles, embellishments, palette knife, adhesive, and grout. Bring any plates, cups, china, tiles, jewelry and embellishments that you would like to include in your design, especially if you would like to include special pieces or if you would like your flamingo to be a specific color.
