ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Crisp mountain air and serene alpine landscapes offer a natural retreat in Summit County, inviting us to rest, recharge, and renew—especially as the world awakens with the arrival of spring. Embrace this season of transformation with a concert that explores themes of awakening, growth, and the joy of new beginnings. The evening opens with Copland’s Appalachian Spring, a timeless masterpiece that evokes the gentle renewal of nature and the spirit of hope. With its serene melodies and radiant harmonies, this work is a musical embrace of life’s quiet yet profound rejuvenation. The program continues with two lively interpretations of spring: Astor Piazzolla’s tango-infused “Spring” from The Four Seasons in Buenos Aires (arranged by Desyatnikov), followed by Vivaldi’s beloved “Spring” from The Four Seasons. Together, these works highlight the energy, vibrancy, and contrasting perspectives of this season of renewal. The concert concludes with Schumann’s Symphony No. 1 “Spring,” a joyful and uplifting symphony inspired by the arrival of springtime with exuberant melodies that perfectly capture the essence of rejuvenation and new life.
