In the Wake of Whales - North Uist Community Whale

JOIN US celebrate the lives of 55 long-finned pilot whales, and share their incredible story before they sadly stranded on Traigh Mhor, Isle of Lewis on 16 July 2023.
Together with local schools, we're creating life-size cardboard whales—three of which will be special “island community whales” made during the festival to honour their lives and journey.
Be part of something special: paint, write messages, print, draw, and help bring these whales to life through words and images—in both English and Gaelic.
All whales created—at the festival and in schools—will come together to symbolically reunite the pod for a gathering at North Tolsta Community Hall on 12 July 2025, as part of Keening: Song of the Stranding
