The Fox Island History series - Session 1
This is a multi-lecture series, co-sponsored by the Fox Island Historical Chapel Preservation Society and the Museum. The series starts with the early expansion in the Pacific Northwest, including Russian fur traders, American explorers, and the Hudson's Bay Company, as well as the Natives who already lived there. Rebekah M.K. Mergenthal, PhD, from Pacific Lutheran University will deliver the content.
Additional lectures will be focused on the long history of Indians living in the south Puget Sound area, specifically, the 1855 Indian War, the Medicine Creek Treaty, the internment camps, and tribal customs and traditions. Included also in this series will be information on the Second War - the Fish War.
